I know, cancer is horrible monster. And there is nothing funny about it.
But somehow – even in the deepest despair – we are able to find some humor…
This what happened to me. Five years ago.
The Doctor told me: “You have a golf ball size tumor right in the middle in your chest”.
The sky fall over me.
After the shock come total numbness.
But few hours later i told the Doctor: “Doc, maybe I just swallowed the golf ball?”
And he said:” You know, if you can joke about that, you are going to survive it.”
Well, he was right…
Later that day I told my Friend about my ordeal.
And she said:” If you get Chemo, you are going to loose your hair.”
And I told her:” That’s okay, I never liked my hair anyway”.
Few weeks later I was waiting for my radiation treatment and I met this young woman.
She asked me: “You have a Brest cancer?”
I said: “No. I can’t have a Brest cancer, because my Brest is very small”.
She said:” C’mon, even man can have a Brest cancer”.
I said:”I know, but I’m a woman”.
She laughed and said: “I know, you are a volunteer”.
I looked at her and said:” C’mon, Who will volunteer to have cancer?”
And we laugh, and laugh and cry a little…
And than, after one month of Chemo and Radiation treatments I got very sick.
My esophagus and lung was burned by to strong Radiation…
I was in terrible pain. It felt almost like I will swallowed burning charcoal…
When I cam to see the Doctor, the nice receptionist asked me:”How you doing today,Anna?”
I whispered:”Horrible. I’m in pain. I’m burned here”… I pointed to my chest.
She asked:”When this hurts?”
“When I’m laughing to much.” I whispered…
And we laugh, and we hug, and we cry little..
Well, this was five years ago.
And I’m still laughing and crying and hugging anyone who needs a hug.
And I love every minute of it!
God Bless you all.
